Long standing leading Security company is seeking a Commercial Security Director. This position is responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing all activities of the onsite Security staff, including all supervisory, training and operations functions at the assigned post in accordance with post orders and client instructions, and following all internal procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • This position is the first direct supervisory contact for shift supervisors and Security Professionals, regarding performance, operations, emergency response activities, and department needs. Responsible for evaluating the work performance of Security Professionals and making recommendations regarding assignments.
  • May conduct interviews, make recommendations for placement of Security Professionals, and execute site-specific orientations including review of Post Orders, routine responsibilities, and how to respond to emergency situations or specific client needs. Also, directly responsible for ensuring all training modules and tests are administered according to Company guidelines.
  • Responsible for making sure that the Post Order Manual and all other post, training information, and fire/life/safety documents are being properly maintained and updated, and that the Post is being properly maintained, cleaned and organized. May make recommendations to branch management and/or client for updates/changes to Post Orders as needs are identified.
  • Monitor radio traffic at post to ensure proper and timely security response. Be available by and use company-provided cell phone to maintain appropriate level of contact with branch management and client contact as required during and outside normal shift schedule.
  • Respond to minor incidents (internal to Security Professionals and/or external to client location) that occur, ensuring appropriate action is taken, all reports are properly completed, and appropriate parties are notified in a timely manner. Depending on client requirements, may provide daily security briefings to client contact regarding incidents, tenant issues, and other security updates, either in person, via email, via other computer program/system, or a combination of such communication devices, as required by the client and/or directed by branch management.
  • Identify any personnel problems occurring at posts, such as payroll issues, employee relations complaints or other concerns, and work to resolve as appropriate, or forward to Field Manager and/or Branch/Operations Manager as appropriate. May be responsible for writing a report of the situation or assisting with an investigation, as directed by Branch Manager or Corporate HR Managers.
  • Responsible for making recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary action, including termination. May be responsible for administering counseling or disciplinary actions (may make or initiate such decisions on his/her own, and/or may execute such actions at the specific direction of and with prior approval from Branch/Corporate HR management – depending on circumstances and as directed by Branch Management)
  • Distribute communications and other information to Security Professionals at post as directed.
  • Respond to client or site emergencies as they arise, including ensuring appropriate communication to Field Manager, Property Management.
  •  May occasionally perform Security Professional job duties on an as-needed basis by standing post.

Skills & Abilities

  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
  • The job is generally performed in various environments, including outdoors, in parking structures, and in office settings, and the employee may be subject to adverse conditions such as rain, cold or heat for extended periods of time.
  • The employee must be able to constantly walk, stand, reach with both hands and arms, and physically be able to operate a standard motor vehicle. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, but is not required to perform such on a daily, consistent or frequent basis. May be required to climb stairs, ladders or ramps on a regular basis. May require periodic running. Must be able to perform these duties in the event of a security or emergency situation and be able to take a leadership role in assisting others to perform these functions.
  • Must be able to handwrite legible reports and correspondence using standard writing implements and computers. Must be able to read, write and clearly speak in English to properly communicate security commands and directions. Must be able demonstrate proficient ability to operate standard computer and office equipment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of professional-level experience required. Prior experience in the security industry, law enforcement and/or military highly required. Experience in scheduling, operations or other functions of security industry a plus.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all relevant Company policies and expectations, including those related to executing supervisory duties.
  • As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test. Additionally, as a condition of continued employment, employee must maintain current active status of any required Guard License at all times, and must carry the license at all times while on duty.
